Our Director of Development is the heart of our fundraising efforts and plays a pivotal role in advancing our mission by creating meaningful relationships and driving fundraising initiatives in the Greater Akron region. This is an exciting opportunity to make an impact through corporate, church, small business, and individual partnerships while assisting with community events and campaigns that further our organization's vital work.
Position Overview: We seek a highly motivated, creative individual as our Director of Development to lead our fundraising and donor engagement efforts. This role involves building and nurturing relationships with individuals, corporations, small businesses, and foundations to generate support for OPEN M’s mission. You’ll be part of a dynamic team, assisting with major fundraising events, creating grant proposals, and managing and building donor stewardship while working closely with the CEO and OPEN M team to achieve our revenue and mission goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising Strategy & Donor Relations:
o Grant writing
o Develop and implement fundraising strategies to engage individuals, corporations, small businesses, and foundations.
o Identify, cultivate, and solicit new donors aligned with the OPEN M mission.
o Design stewardship and retention strategies for donors at all levels, in close collaboration with the CEO for major donor engagement.
Event Planning & Community Engagement:
o Assist with planning, executing, and budgeting major fundraising events, including the Annual Breakfast and Christmas for the Love of Children program.
o Represent OPEN M at local luncheons, dinners, and community events to raise awareness and support for our programs.
o Assist with new and creative ways to drive revenue and bring awareness to our organization
Skills and Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
· 2+ years of experience in fundraising, grant writing
· Proven track record in cultivating and managing donor relationships, with a history of successful campaigns and grant awards
· Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
· Familiarity with donor management software is a plus.
Schedule:
· Monday to Friday (with flexibility for evenings/weekends for events)
· Location: Akron, OH (in-person)
