Robert W. Malone named recipient of 2018 Lieberth Community Vision Award

Akron, OH – Leadership Akron has named Robert W. Malone, Chairman of Business Law Practice Group at Buckingham, Doolittle and Burroughs, LLC as the recipient of this year’s Lieberth Community Vision Award. The first Lieberth Community Vision Award was named for and presented to Mr. David Lieberth, a founder of Leadership Akron, in recognition of his outstanding community service and leadership.

Malone was selected for this award because of his significant contributions to the community through his legal work and leadership roles with numerous nonprofit organizations throughout northeast Ohio and the region. Malone is a member of the American, Ohio State, and Akron Bar Associations. He served on the committees that drafted the Ohio statutes concerning the taxation of owners of private companies including the statute that created limited liability companies. He continues to serve on the committee that monitors and proposes amendments to the Ohio Limited Liability Company Act.

In the Akron community, Malone is a fellow of the Akron Bar Foundation, trustee of the Akron Community Foundation, a member of the Akron Estate Planning Council, and he serves on The University of Akron Finance Department Advisory Committee. He is a board member for numerous community organizations including AAA Akron Auto Club, Greater Akron Chamber and Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges. In addition, he is a past board member of Leadership Akron and a past president of the Leadership Akron Alumni Association.

Malone graduated summa cum laude from The Ohio State University College of Law. He has been with Buckingham, Doolittle and Burroughs, LLC for nearly 42 years and practices business and financial law. He was named the 2014 Tax Law Best Lawyers in America© “Lawyer of the Year” in the Akron area and has been listed in Best Lawyers in America for the past 31 years.
